THE UVUKILE Gospel Festival is still going strong after five years.
This year it will take new and undiscovered talent to the stage. It is celebrating its fifth year by giving a platform to
unknown singers.
The organisers said the not-so-popular artists will enjoy sharing the stage with the very popular ones. The event kicked
off in 2012 and has always been held at Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre in Port Shepstone. The event organised by Ukhozi FM will take place this year on 17 March at the same venue.
The organising team's Irvin Sihlophe told SunBuzz that a lot of talented, unknown artists in Port Shepstone don't know
the relevant people or how to go about showing off their talent.
"This year we decided to open the platform to unknown talent so they too can get their shot at the big stage," said Irvin.
Local artist Xolani Mhlongo said he will use the opportunity wisely. "I would like to thank Ukhozi FM for recognising our
talent. The past four years have been challenging but I always have been hopeful our turn would also come."
There will also be electrifying performances by gospel stars Deborah Fraser, Andile KaMajola, Sechaba, Ncandweni Christ
Ambassadors and others. Irvin added that the festival's golden hour will be given to singer S'fiso Ncwane. "S'fiso was born
and raised on the south coast. So we decided to give him an hour performance this year."
