On 8th March 2016, a five-storey building in Lekki, Lagos collapsed, causing the deaths of at least 10 people. Almost immediately, structural failure was blamed as the cause of the collapse. The building fell to the side and even some parts of it remained intact following the collapse.
However, when a building collapsed at The SCOAN in September 2014, if fell on its own footprint without tilting to the left or right and no single part of the structure remained intact.
