Teachers charged over fake Diplomas

TWO teachers appeared in the Lusaka Magistrates Court yesterday accused of forging secondary school teachers' diplomas from the University of Zambia, David Livingstone College of Education and Nkrumah College of Education.
Daily Nation Zambia reported that Alexander Mukulalwendo, 28, and Kelvin Jatwa, 37, appeared in court after they were arrested on charges of forgery.
They are both facing one count of forgery and another of uttering a false document.
It is alleged that Mukulalwendo on October 10, 2010 and February 29 this year, jointly and while acting together with others unknown with intent to deceive and defraud, allegedly forged a secondary school teachers diploma from the University of Zambia and David Livingstone College of Education in the names of Alexander Mukulalwendo by purporting to show that it was genuinely issued and signed by the authorized signatories of the said institutions. He is in count two facing a charge of uttering false documents contrary to section 352 of the laws of Zambia.
It is alleged that Mukulalwendo on unknown dates but between December 1 and 31, 2012 knowingly and fraudulently uttered a false document namely a secondary school diploma from the University of Zambia and David Livingstone College of Education to Maxwell Mulondia.
Mukulalwendo did not take plea because of the absence of the trial court but he is expected to take plea on Monday.
Another teacher also appeared in another court for forging a secondary school teachers diploma from Nkurumah College of Education.
Jatwa is on August 5, 2007 and February 29 this year, jointly and while acting together with others unknown with intent to deceive and defraud, allegedly forged the diploma in the names of Kelvin Jatwa by purporting to show that it was genuinely issued and signed by the authorized signatories of Nkrumah College of Education.
He is also facing a charge of uttering a false document when he fraudulently uttered the false document to Maxwell Mulondia.
He is expected to appear in court soon for his plea.
