Lupane university hosts public lecture

Lupane State University Alumni Association is today Friday hosting a public lecture  on the role of universities in paving way for national development.

In a notice sent to invitees, the university said it is kindly invites people to a public lecture to be hosted at the Bulawayo Small City hall on Friday, commencing at 1100hours and ending at 1330hours.

"The keynote speaker shall be the Minister of Sport and Recreation, Hon Makhosini Hlongwane (MP). The presentation is expected to locate the role of the University in paving the path for national development through sport and recreation. Moreover, citing how that will enhance the institution's facet of student development in resonating interests with the values of the LSUAA. In this regard, the public lecture will entail: - How the establishment of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation redresses the coloniality of sport and recreation," reads the notice.

" The policy amends to the coloniality and unstructured landscape of sport and recreation. Situating the University's role as a knowledge resource for decolonising, organising and monetising sports and recreation in the in the interest of national development. Establishing the symbiotic relationship between the Ministry of Sports and Recreation's new Policies and other national policies particularly ZIMASSET."

The university indicated that the date is conveniently within the course of the Zimbabwe National Youth Games which the Ministry of Sport and Recreation will be hosting in Matabeleland North Province, the home province of Lupane State University.

"In regards to the above realisations, the public lecture will assist university student's research work on sport's role in the development of the nation," reads the notice.
