President Emmerson Mnangagwa today presided over the 4th graduation ceremony of Gwanda State University (GSU), held at the Epoch Mine Campus in Matabeleland South Province.

The President capped a total of 69 graduands, comprising 51 males and 18 females, drawn from the Faculties of Engineering and Environment, and Natural Resources Management and Agriculture.

Addressing the gathering, President Mnangagwa commended the university's role in advancing education tailored to Zimbabwe's developmental needs, particularly in agriculture, mining, and environmental sustainability.

"This institution is a beacon of innovation and resilience. The graduates we celebrate today are the future of Zimbabwe's industrial and agricultural transformation," he said.

The ceremony marked a significant milestone for GSU, which continues to grow as a centre of excellence in applied sciences and rural development. The university's strategic location in a mining and agricultural region positions it as a key player in driving Vision 2030.

University officials praised the graduates for their perseverance and commitment, especially amid the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and economic constraints.

The event was attended by government ministers, traditional leaders, academics, and families of the graduands, with cultural performances and student exhibitions adding colour to the occasion.
