Make Shona, Ndebele, English compulsory in all schools - Sikhala

The thorny issue of deploying non Ndebele speaking teachers in Matabeleland can only be solved when Shona, Ndebele and English are made compulsory subjects in all schools in the country.
"The hullabaloo that is currently created by the deployment of non speaking Ndebele teachers in Matabeleland can only be solved by a national integration policy whereby we introduce a compulsory learning of our three major languages from primary school," said outspoken MDC-T politician Job Sikhala.
"Just like English which we learn from preschool, Shona and Ndebele must be given the same status in our curriculum. Despite having other minority languages, the three languages are the most spoken in our country and it will be beautiful for all Zimbabweans to speak them."
Sikhala said this would help to narrow the unnecessary conflict of having people who do not speak the other language deployed in areas where they will not be able to speak a single word.
"I am happy because I am the eloquent speaker of both Shona and Ndebele," Sikhala said.
