The government has been urged to assist disadvantaged children by paying their tuition fees up to tertiary education.
The introduction of the Basic Education Assistance Module (BEAM) has benefited thousands of disadvantaged primary and secondary school going children.
However, opportunities to access fees for tertiary level education have remained difficult.
Harare social worker, Mr Musekiwa Makwanya is of the opinion that more funds must be channelled towards capacitating the disadvantaged up to tertiary level.
The Deputy Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Mr Tapiwa Matangaidze confirmed said programmes to cater for BEAM beneficiaries up to tertiary level are not enough.
While the government introduced cadetship programmes at university level, the beneficiaries are still finding it difficult as they sometimes spend two years without accessing their results due to conditions set by universities.
