Major changes at Cyrene, Usher High schools

Cyrene Boys' High and Usher Girls' High schools in Matabeleland South could soon enroll girls and boys respectively.
That is if Prmary and Secondary Education Minister Lazarus Dokora has his way.
According to Dokora, by enrolling both genders that would 'ease the high demand for Form One places'.
"We have a number of schools which have not managed to fill their places because they only take boys or girls" he said during a radio interview.
He added "Last year we urged Plumtree High School to incorporate girls and I am happy that the school has over 150 girls. It was always a boys' school from the colonial times but efforts have been made to open up spaces for girls".
Early this year, one of the country's elite boys-only schools, Falcon College indicated that it will from January next year start enrolling girls from Form One to Six.
The college, located in Esigodini, ranks among the most expensive private schools in the country charging about $4 100 per term.
School authorities said the decision was influenced by parents who prefer mixed schools for their children.
