Dagga smoker flees in handcuffs

A brave marijuana smoker, Lisani Nyoni aged 34 fled while in handcuffs at night after he overpowered a police officer who had arrested him.
Nyoni was however later re-arrested at his homestead with the handcuffs still on.
Constable Shadreck Dzinavanhu who had arrested Nyoni sustained injuries, a Plumtree magistrate, Taurai Manwere heard.
Prosecutor Elisha Mazorodze said the incident happened on December 24 at around 9pm.
Dzinavanhu and one Constable Mugore were conducting patrols at Macingwane Business Centre when they caught Nyoni red-handed smoking dagga at Ekuthuleni Shop.
They confronted him in a bid to arrest him.
Dzinavanhu handcuffed Nyoni on one hand and when he tried to handcuff the other hand Nyoni refused and became violent, the court heard.
Nyoni hit Dzinavanhu once on the head with the handcuffs and then punched him several times all over the body.
Nyoni then fled to his homestead with the handcuffs.
