A FORMER Ndolwane Super Sounds guitarist is singing the blues as his' father-in-law' seems bent on making him face the music for defaulting on a lobola payment which he was charged when he had just visited the family 'as a friend'.
The father -in- law Mr Josiah Ndlovu, a businessman based in Lupane who owns grinding mills is making business out of Obert Mvundla, a former member of Ndolwane Super sounds.
Reporters heard that Mr Ndlovu who prefers to be called 'Malume' and owns a number of grinding mills called 'Emahoho' and shops in Lupane has taken Mvundla's property for the second time.
Mvundla said on 4 January 2010 he almost fainted when he found his house empty after he had just bought new property. All his property was looted by his 'father in-law' claiming bride-price for his daughter.
"I have never seen such a hungry man who claims lobola and angazi ukuthi ufunani kimi (I don't know what he wants from me) * as at the moment her daughter is in South Africa and I am this side ' i but he has the nerve to break into my house and take everything I have worked for," said Mvundla.
The daughter at the center of it all is Portia Silimukile Ndlovu and she is now based in South Africa.
Mvundla said he stayed with Portia in South Africa for some time and they decided to take their relationship to another level. They came back home to visit their families but to his surprise Ndlovu organised some people and they started lobola negotiations.
This did not go well with Mvundla who told them that his family did not allow him to enter such negotiations without the presence of his elders.
In 2009 the property taken was worth R116 000 and only a few things were recovered and the property taken recently is worth about US$2000,"said Mvundla.
Mvundla said he heard from his neighbours at Emakhandeni suburb that Ndlovu brought a truck and had spare keys that he used to gain entry but does not know where he got keys from.
It seems there is bad blood between these two as there was a time when Ndlovu hired a gang of men to beat up Mvundla and it is alleged that he paid them with a cow each for beating him up, according to the singer. As if that was not enough they framed him to have raped one member of the family but was acquited in court.
Mvundla said he thinks it's high time he parts ways with such a family, as they will end up killing him because they seem to be hungry for earthly riches.
These people will end up killing me. They framed me for rape and all sorts of bad things," said Mvundla. Efforts to get a comment from Ndlovu were fruitless. However, a member of the Ndlovu family, Madeline, who is a niece to the businessman confirmed that her uncle took Mvundla's property.
"It is true he did loot the house. I don't know why they don't! eye to eye but they should iron out their differences," she said.
