A SELF-CONFESSED HOOKER,Linda Murau,25, was lucky to escape jail after she was acquitted on charges of stealing a cell phone from  her client.

Linda, who resides at House No. 13937 Unit O, Chitungwiza was accused of stealing a Nokia X2 cell phone from her client Nyasha Ruzvidzo in November last year.

However, Nyasha, who is a student at Herentals college, gave inconsistent submissions hence the court found Linda's hands clean.

Linda denied the charges when she initially appeared at Chitungwiza magistrate court saying that Nyasha approached her soliciting for her services and she accepted.

After the sex session Nyasha then handed her the cellphone as a way of settling the sex debt.

However Nyasha insisted that Linda had fished the cellphone from his pocket during their quality time.

But magistrate Unzemoyo noted some loopholes in his evidence, which failed to prove a prima facie against the lady of the night before acquitting her.

Prosecutor Luke Mutupe said that on November 25 at around 11pm Nyasha was drinking beer at Ziko Night Club.

It was when one Prosper approached him and gave him some beer to drink.

Prosper was said to have pulled him outside the club to a secluded place where he left him with Linda in the darkness.

It was when she stole his cellphone Nokia X2 valued at US$120 and a wallet that contained US$20 and identity card.

Since he was drunk, he then left the place and went home.

Nyasha discovered the theft the following day and found that the loot was already given to Prosper.

He later lodged a complaint with the police leading to Linda's arrest.
