Prophet Ngwenya has been stripped of his government granted status to practice as a nationally recognised prophet.

Ngwenya who practices from the heart of the second capital Bulawayo is part of a group of church leaders lumped together with 39 others countrywide who face imprisonment if found to be practicing their so called prophetic activities.

Ngwenya who is arguably the most prolific of all local Bulawayo spiritualists, is the current leader of the 12th Apostolic Church being identified only as Prophet Ngwenya of the Bulawayo based 12th-Apostolic Church.

Other so called prophets who include the Harare based Emmanuel Makandiwa and Ubert Angel are reportedly next to be added to the above list of 'spiritualist individuals', and will be arrested if they continue to practice afterwards.

According to the Traditional Medical Practitioners Council, those de-registered were mostly self-proclaimed exorcists and bogus prophets fleecing villagers of cash and livestock after accusing villagers of having goblins.

It is claimed the prophets and traditional healers were using the same methods to trick their unsuspecting subjects like planting fake goblins in houses.
