Man axes parents over witchcraft

A MAN from Filabusi in Matabeleland South province ran amok and axed his parents after accusing them of witchcraft.
Stephen Chinyaure (36) was convicted of two counts of domestic violence when he appeared before Filabusi resident magistrate Abednico Ndebele and was slapped with a 36-month jail term.
Six months of the sentence were suspended on condition of good behaviour for the next five years.
In mitigation, Chinyaure told the court that a prophet told him that his difficulties in life and failure of his wife to conceive were allegedly due to witchcraft practiced by his stepfather and mother.
