Zimbabwe's exiled former Information Minister who is a sworn Mnangagwa enemy, Professor Jonathan Moyo, has queried President Emmerson Mnangagwa's age.

According to Wikipedia, President Mnangagwa was born on 15 September 1942 which makes him 78 years old.

However, Prof Moyo questioned the truthfulness of President Mnangagwa's date of birth with a single Tweet.

Moyo said some people who were with President Mnangagwa in Zambia, and were born in Sept 1938, say they used to have joint birthday parties with him. He also claim that in the 1980s/90s, press reports said President Mnangagwa was born in Sept 1942.

Said Moyo, "HOW OLD IS EMMERSON MNANGAGWA? Some who were with him in Zambia, and were born in Sept 1938, say they used to have joint birthday parties with him. In the 1980s/90s, press reports said he was born in Sept 1942. Now he says he was born in 1946. Truth is he's turning 83 next month!"

Added Jonathan Mouo, "AS MEMBERS OF THE ZANU Branch in Lusaka in Zambia & although born on different dates in 1938, three persons used to hold an annual joint party to celebrate having been born in the same year, as boys of 1938, and these are Josiah Tongogara, Jonathan Mandaza and Emmerson Mnangagwa!"

One Twitter commentetors reminded Moyo that, "In 1965 after the train incident he (Mnangagwa) was spared a hanging because of being under 18. It would mean he was 27 then and passed for the lower age? entirely possible but needs further thought maybe."

Moyo then said, "The late Father Ribeiro connived with others to falsify his age for other reasons but that's a story for another day. There is no public record that he faced a death sentence trial or that he committed, or was charged of, a capital offence. See Jonathan Chando's work on this!"
