NORMAL judiciary business came to a halt at the Bulawayo Western Commonage courts after a woman collapsed in the dock.

Nomsa Maseko stepped into court to appear before magistrate Shepherd Mnjanja for an assault charge.

She fell to the floor and there were gasps in the public gallery prompting prison officers to rush to her aid.
Court business was brought to a temporary halt as people jostled to catch a glimpse of Nomsa who was gasping for air. And moments later she fainted.

The prison officers and police orderlies took her out of court and laid her prostrate in a police charge office. After a few minutes she regained consciousness and appeared before the magistrate.

She pleaded not guilty to the assault charge. The magistrate remanded her out of custody to next week on Tuesday. Allegations against Nomsa are that last week she was involved in a harsh exchange of words with her neighbour Tadiwanashe Mariridza.

The harsh exchange of words spiralled into a fight as Nomsa turned on her and kicked her and punched her all over the body causing her to bleed profusely.

Tadiwanashe reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of Nomsa.
