When a mysterious ailment attacked his left foot and left a big gaping hole in it Emson Mkhwananzi from Zamatove village in Mberengwa, Midlands province, pictured a dark future and being amputated.
Being eager to know what was eating away a chunk of flesh from his foot causing him intense pain, Mkhwananzi consulted a traditional healer who told him that he was bewitched and promised to heal his foot.
He said that sparked hope and he paid a cow for his healing.
Mkhwananzi said: "He(traditional) gave me an assortment of herbs to put in the wound and I did that, for the first days there was a slight healing but after a couple of weeks it got worse and I would see pus oozing from the wound and I felt intense pain."
He returned to the traditional healer but he was not offered anything better as the traditional doctor made an assurance that he would heal.
"When I returned to him I expressed my displeasure at the failure of his muti and demanded my cow back but he vowed that I would be fine," he said.
Days, weeks and a month passed without any change for the better and sadly his wound deepened. His wife approached a local prophet but he also failed to heal him.
Mkhwananzi said he felt defeated and the dark picture of being amputated clouded his mind.
"I felt hopeless as this presented a challenge to me when I was doing my chores and fending for my family. And the only solution that was left was to be amputated," he said.
However, a turning point arrived when Prophet Madzibaba Mutumwa visited the area and with little hope he approached him.
"Prophet Madzibaba Emmanuel Mutumwa prayed for me and a strange insect came out with the pus and gradually the wound started to heal and after a week there was a noticeable difference," he said.
He heaped much praise on him.
"I would like to thank him for healing me and may he continue coming to our village so that a lot of people can get healed," he said.
B-Metro reached out to Madzibaba Mutumwa and he said: "Mkhwananzi was bewitched .My team and I prayed for him and a strange insect came out of the wound and we destroyed it. After that he started to heal."
