A SECURITY guard at Arcturus Mine who allegedly shot at Amalgamated Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (Artuz) secretary-general Robson Chere on Friday appeared at Marondera Magistrates Court facing a charge of attempted murder.
Johanne Maguma, who allegedly opened fire at Chere but missed, will return to court on December 1, 2022 for trial.
The court heard that the docket was referred back to the police station for further investigations.
It is reported that on October 8, 2022, at around 6pm, Chere wanted to leave the mine premises where Maguma and his colleagues were manning the premises.
A misunderstanding ensued as Maguma allegedly blocked Chere from leaving.
Chere is said to reside at the same mine premises where he is a teacher at the school there.
Maguma reportedly fired a shot at Chere, but missed, and Chere reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of Maguma.
Marvellous Machacha prosecuted.
