Zimbabwe's new steel plant 40% complete

Construction of a carbon steel plant in Manhize, Chivhu, by Dinson Iron and Steel Company (Disco) is 40 percent complete, it has been learnt.
Addressing a post-Cabinet media briefing, acting Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr Jenfan Muswere also gave updates on other mining projects at Hwange, Mimosa and Sabi Star mines.
"The construction of the Phase 2 coke oven battery at Dinson Colliery in Hwange, Matabeleland North province, has reached 70 percent completion," he said.
"The upgrading of number 1 and rebuilding of the number 2 furnaces at Zimasco High Carbon Ferrochrome Smelter in Kwekwe in the Midlands province has reached 80 percent and 20 percent of completion, respectively, while the number 7 and 8 furnaces have reached 50 percent."
He said major civil works on the concentrator optimisation at Mimosa Mining Company in Zvishavane, Midlands province, had been completed. In addition, construction of the lithium processing plant at Sabi Star Mine in Buhera, Manicaland province, has reached 50 percent.
