IN a tragic turn of events, a man from Bulawayo died a few days after a fistfight with another man who is now reportedly on the run.

The incident which later turned tragic occurred on 7 August at corner 1st Avenue and Simon Parirenyatwa Street.

According to a witness, on the day in question and at around 4pm the now deceased Methembe Ndlovu (23) and the unidentified suspect who is reportedly on the run had a misunderstanding over a yet to be established reason.

It is reported that the argument quickly escalated into a fistfight.

It is alleged during the fistfight Ndlovu received a powerful blow on the head, rendering him unconscious.

It is reported that the suspect tried to render first aid when he rushed to a nearby vendor and  took some ice blocks which he  placed on Ndlovu's head.

Seeing that Ndlovu was not responding the suspect quickly fled from the scene.

When he later regained consciousness Ndlovu reportedly told witnesses that he wanted to go home saying he was having a severe headache.

On the following day when someone went to Ndlovu's home to check on him, he was found lying unconscious in his room and he called an ambulance which ferried him to hospital where he later died.

Ndlovu is suspected to have died from the injuries he sustained in the fistfight.

He said Ndlovu's death was a painful reminder that violence can have irreversible consequences, leaving a lasting impact on families, friends and communities.
