Australian company identifies more gas deposits in Zimbabwe

Australian energy company Invictus Energy Limited has reported that the total gas identified from drilling at its Mukuyu 2 drilling site in Muzarabani is now four times greater than what was observed at its first drill site.
Previously, Invictus announced its plans to drill an additional 1,000 meters at the Mukuyu-2 site to reach its intended total depth of 3,750 meters after discovering additional oil and gas deposits.
The Mukuyu-2 drilling site was identified after machine breakdowns in December the previous year forced Invictus to abandon its drilling efforts at its initial site, Mukuyu-1.
The Mukuyu-2 site is located in the Muzarabani district of Mashonaland Central province in the northeastern part of Zimbabwe.
According to the company, "Total gas observed from reservoirs in Mukuyu-2 to date is approximately four times greater than observed total gas peaks in Mukuyu-1. Background gas, including heavier hydrocarbons (C4 and C5), is approximately double the background levels observed in Mukuyu-1."
Invictus further noted the presence of strong gas indications, drilling breaks, fluorescence in cuttings (indicating the presence of liquid hydrocarbons), and elevated LWD (Logging While Drilling) resistivity in multiple Upper Angwa sandstone reservoirs. Additionally, they encountered gas shows in multiple lower Angwa sandstone reservoirs.
Scott Macmillan, the Managing Director of Invictus, expressed enthusiasm over these findings and the potential of the previously untested lower Angwa reservoirs.
Last month, Invictus secured AUD15 million (approximately US$9.47 million) through capital raising initiatives to fund drilling activities at the Mukuyu-2 site, which was expected to take 50 to 60 days.
