Zimbabwe's opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has urged the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to address Zimbabwe's "crisis" arising from the disputed elections, following another reported abduction and torture of a member.
Amos Chibaya, a CCC lawmaker, stated that Takudzwa Ngadziore, the youth quota representative in the National Assembly, was allegedly abducted and tortured before being left naked in Mazowe. A passer-by reportedly assisted Ngadziore by providing him with clothing.
Ngadziore's case is the most recent incident of abduction in a series of such events, occurring shortly after the abduction and torture of former Mabvuku-Tafara MP James Chidhakwa, who was later found along Arcturus Road.
Chibaya expressed concern over the growing trend of politically motivated violence and targeted abductions, particularly the use of unknown substances to inject victims. He called it a systematic way to eliminate those who oppose Zanu-PF, asserting that Zimbabwe faces a political crisis stemming from the disputed elections on August 23, 2023.
Chibaya called on law enforcement agencies, particularly the police, to investigate the incident promptly and thoroughly. He also urged Zimbabwe's return to democracy and the full respect of the law, in light of SADC's upcoming meeting on November 4 to discuss various issues, including developments in Zimbabwe.
