Patrick Chinamasa, ZANU-PF's secretary for legal affairs, has publicly supported extending President Emmerson Mnangagwa's term to 2030.

Chinamasa chanted the slogan during a provincial co-ordinating committee meeting in Manicaland, emphasizing Mnangagwa's continued rule until 2030.

This slogan, "VaMnangagwa vanenge vachipo kusvika 2030," contradicts the Constitution, which limits presidential terms to two.

The move appears to be a strategic attempt by Mnangagwa's supporters to gauge public and party reaction. Provincial chairperson Tawanda Mukodza confirmed Chinamasa's involvement in restructuring efforts in Manicaland.

Despite the Constitution's term limits, other party members, including Midlands Provincial Affairs minister Owen Ncube, have also voiced support for Mnangagwa's extended presidency.

Political analysts warn of potential dangers and opportunism within the party.

Rejoice Ngwenya and Tendai Reuben Mbofana highlighted risks and potential fallout for those misjudging the political landscape, referencing exiled former officials.

Zanu-PF's director of information, Farai Marapira, denied any factionalism, asserting unified support for Mnangagwa. Additionally, a national prayer event by apostolic sects in Chitungwiza turned into a campaign rally endorsing Mnangagwa.
