ZPRA veterans are accusing President Mnangagwa of failing to fulfill his promise to allocate them mining claims, echoing similar unfulfilled pledges made by late President Mugabe.
The ZPRA Veterans Association spokesperson, Buster Magwizi, stated that despite government assurances, they have not received any mining claims in Matabeleland.
Mines deputy minister Polite Kambamura mentioned the ministry's commitment to ensuring the veterans receive claims during a Senate session. However, Magwizi highlighted the absence of assistance despite Mnangagwa's 2021 promise of aid from seven companies.
The veterans lament ongoing neglect despite their significant contributions during the armed struggle.
They demand restitution for seized properties, acquired with their demobilization payouts, following the Gukurahundi massacres.
