Zanu-PF's Harare Province is aiming to register more than 500,000 members. This restructuring effort emphasizes the importance of people registering in their respective cells to become bona fide supporters.
According to the State owned Herald, the campaign has seen a notable increase in youth registrations, including many from tertiary institutions.
In addition to the influx of young supporters, several members of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) are defecting to Zanu-PF. These defectors have described the opposition factions as unquantifiable, indicating a growing disillusionment with the opposition and a shift towards the ruling party. The restructuring exercise is a constitutional mandate for Zanu-PF to ensure an active and accurate database of its supporters.
The party's efforts in Harare have been particularly successful, with teams actively engaging in all six zones across the province to ensure comprehensive coverage. The objective is to leave no one and no place behind, thereby maximizing their reach and support base. The restructuring process is ongoing, with Harare provincial political commissar Kudakwashe Damson confirming the progress.
Damson noted that branch executive members from Zones 1 to 6 are leading the cell restructuring exercise as directed by the party. He highlighted the overwhelming response, particularly from tertiary institutions, and expressed confidence in achieving the target of at least 500,000 registered members. This target surpasses the previous record of 425,000 registered members, demonstrating the growing support and successful mobilization efforts of Zanu-PF in Harare.
