The global football governing body, FIFA, has extended the tenure of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Normalisation Committee by another six months.
Initially led by Lincoln Mutasa, the committee's tenure was set to expire at the end of last month, amid speculation that the entire interim executive might be dismissed.
A FIFA delegation currently in Zimbabwe met with various stakeholders and decided on the extension. However, Cynthia Malaba and Sikhumbuzo Ndebele were not invited to continue their roles.
The committee will now consist of Lincoln Mutasa, Rosemary Mugadza, and Nyasha Sanyamandwe, who will carry on with the mandate to establish a roadmap for the ZIFA executive committee elections, expected to be held by December or January.
It remains uncertain whether FIFA will announce replacements for Ndebele and Malaba, pending another meeting with the Sports and Recreation Commission.
