Stepfather rapes daughter (8) twice

A 35‑year‑old Inyathi man has appeared in court after he allegedly raped his eight‑year‑old stepdaughter on two consecutive days while her mother was at work.
The suspect, whose name is being withheld to protect the child, was brought before the Bulawayo Regional Court, where he appeared before magistrate Shingirai Mutiro facing two counts of rape. He was remanded in custody to 1 June.
The State told the court that on 20 May, the mother left the victim in the custody of the suspect while she went to work. The suspect allegedly called the child into his bedroom, undressed her and raped her before threatening to beat her if she told anyone.
The following morning, the suspect allegedly repeated the same abuse using the same method.
The court heard that the victim's mother later found her daughter crying in the bathroom and confronted her. Out of fear of being beaten by the suspect, the child initially falsely accused a schoolmate. After further questioning, she revealed the truth, leading to the suspect's arrest.
