TWO Bulawayo women who teamed up to assault a friend have each been fined $40 and asked to pay $300 to replace the victim's spectacles which broke during the assault.
Mirriam Ncube (58), of Number 25 Beech Road and Soneni Jiyane (48) of 15 Flamboyant Road, both in Sauerstown, were convicted on their own plea by Bulawayo magistrate Mr Takundwa Witness Mtetwa.
They were each fined $40 and each had three-months jail term suspended on condition that they pay the complainant, Ms Daphne Sindisiwe, $300 to replace her spectacles which broke during the assault.
Ms Sindisiwe of 29A Beech Road in the same suburb is Ncube and Jiyane's friend.
Ncube and Jiyane assaulted Ms Sindisiwe who is employed by the Bulawayo City Council accusing her of lying to them that there were housing stands given to people free of charge in Killarney.
The State's case was that on 1 April at about 8am, Ncube and Jiyane approached Ms Sindisiwe and asked her why she had lied to them.
They took her to Ncube's house where they assaulted her with fists and a stick.
Ms Sindisiwe's spectacles broke in the process.
