A WOMAN who grabbed her 68-year-old dad by his balls during a row, causing him to faint, has been branded "disgusting" by a magistrate.
Mary Mlilwana, 27, of Magwegwe North suburb in Bulawayo, was however spared jail by Western Commonage magistrate Willard Maphios Moyo, who advised her father, James Mlilwana, to forgive her.
The magistrate conditionally stayed sentencing for five years - but not before giving her a stern lecture.
"This is disgusting and extremely out of the ordinary for a woman of your age to do such a thing on your own father. It's taboo in our culture and I hope you'll not do it again," bristled the magistrate.
Moyo said the courts were "not always there to punish offenders", but occasionally "reunite where there is disunity, and integrate where there is disintegration."
"In this case, the father was aggrieved but should find it in his heart to forgive his daughter who apologised to him through the court. Sentencing is postponed for five years."
Mary told the court she regretted the January 19 attack on her father, but insisted she was only defending herself as he was punching her.
"I feel bad, I'm hurt and very remorseful," she pleaded.
Moyo called Mlilwana to the witness stand and asked him how he felt when his daughter grabbed him by the nuts, temporarily snuffing the life out of him.
"I'm very angry at her for doing such a thing on me," he said, before the magistrate asked for his opinion on a proper sentence.
Shaking with rage, Mlilwana replied: "I received many stitches on my privates and it's still very painful. It's painful to think that my daughter touched my privates, tearing them like a lioness.
"I'm a probation officer by profession and I have never come across such a heinous act like this in my life. I'm scared that my manhood could have been destroyed by my own daughter. So the court should make its own determination."
Kingstone Mkanganwi, for the prosecution, told how on January 19 this year, Mary arrived home shortly after 8PM after visiting her brother in Gwabalanda.
Her father, who had previously told her not to visit her brother, confronted her.
During the row, Mary lost her rage, then grabbed and pulled her father's crown jewels until he lost consciousness.
He was hospitalised at Mpilo.
