'Zimbabweans voted for a clueless party,' says Prof Ncube

MDC president, Professor Welshman Ncube, said it is high time Zimbabweans took responsibility and admit they voted for a "clueless" Zanu-PF to run the country.
So clueless is Zanu-PF that it is unable to raise the economy illustrated by the country's financial state, which is worse off than last year and is sinking faster, he highlighted.
Prof Ncube said it was mind boggling that with an experience of 2008, people still went on to vote for Zanu-PF.
Therefore, he noted Zimbabweans deserved the government they had voted into power, coupled by the hardships that came with it.
Speaking at the Bulawayo Press Club yesterday, his first public appearance after a dismal performance in the July 31 elections, Prof Ncube said most Zimbabweans pretended they were irresponsible for what they did on July 31.
"I think we need to take responsibility as a people no one takes responsibility for the outcome of 2013. We say the elections were nikuved, stolen and so on but real people went to vote, they walk the streets of Bulawayo and Harare. Today, people proudly wear Zanu-PF caps and t-shirts. I believe those people voted for Zanu-PF, they might have not constituted a majority but they were quite substantial but people won't take responsibility that they voted for a clueless party," he said.
The MDC leader said Zanu-PF was unable to revive the economy despite releasing a nice sounding cliche in the form of ZimAsset.
"Few would doubt the economy is far worse today than July of last year. Many of us with a few notable exceptions are worse than we were before. After nine months of observing the government, notwithstanding nice sounding cliches, Zanu-PF has no clue on what to do or manage the economy. It has no clue on what to do, to raise the basic state expenditure, it's often unable to pay civil servants timeously, unable to support the production sector in all manifestations," he said.
The mdc leader jibbed that Zanu-PF slogans and jingles do not and have never managed an economy.
"You might have an avalanche of them, nice sounding little tunes children sing to but those don't aid the economy. Many among us were seduced by the President's insistence that he was a sound economic manager and that the inclusive government was a three headed animal running the government and if left alone he will be able to manage the country.
"Some of us were seduced by this daring brazen lie yet some of us knew then and still know now they are unable. We sat with them in cabinet for four years, we know how idealist they are. They often refused to reason. Regrettably our politics in recent past and now tends to favour emotions and thoughtlessness,"Prof Ncube said.
He pointed out Zimbabwean politics seemed a permanent triumph of emotion over reason and people thrived on "denialism."
"We are prepared to believe that Robert Mugabe was not responsible for the economic meltdown in 2008. In my view this current state of affairs will persist into the foreseeable future unfortunately one of the favourite pastimes of us as a nation is denialism. We are in permanent denial mode we deny that we lost an election, deny that clueless people are clueless. We deny, deny, deny," lamented Ncube.
