Pastors warned against adultery

APOSTOLIC Faith Mission in Zimbabwe President Reverend Dr Aspher Madziyire has warned young pastors against abusing omen and engaging in adultery saying this tarnishes the image of the Chruch.
The message comes following the highly publicised case of RMG Independent End Time Message leader Robert Gumbura who is serving a 40- year jail sentence after being convicted on nine counts of rape.
Speaking during a graduation ceremony of pastors on Friday in Bulawayo, Dr Madziyire told those graduating that churches were experiencing problems of promiscuous pastors who are in the habit of abusing their office.
"We hear that there's a lot of prostitution perpetrated by pastors in churches. Young pastors learn to take care of your garden (wife). You neglect your wives and become pre-occupied with chasing young ladies. If you don't water and put manure on the garden, then you will not have vegetables," said Rev Madziyire.
He said government should support efforts to rid the churches of undesirable elements.
"Adultery by a pastor is a dismissible offence but some dismissed pastors have approached the Labour Court which has ordered their reinstatement which is unfair. Pastors are not called to service by Labour Courts but by God," he said.
Rev Madziyire said the love of money and pride was not supposed to be the driving force in pastors' ministerial work.
A total of 45 students were conferred with Diplomas in Theology while six were given Diplomas in Pastoral Ministry.
