HOUSE of Prayer International Family (HOPIF) leader Prophet Mduduzi Dube has defied those who think he is fake by continuing to perform miracles.

The Entumbane-based prophet first made headlines last  year after his congregants reportedly got blessed with varied grammes of "miracle gold" during a church service.

As word of the "miracle gold" spread like a veld fire in the City of Kings, there are others who doubted his powers and warned worshippers against such claims.

Despite the onslaught on his person and the church, he was not done yet as testimonies of people who got healed from a plethora of ailments and disabilities became gradually louder.

Just recently, he was again in the news after he helped a top Bulawayo businesswoman whose pregnancy was an unusual 10 months. During his prophecy, Dube told the woman that she was carrying an animal instead of a human being in her womb and three days later after praying for her she gave birth to a bullfrog at Mpilo Central Hospital.

It is this and other sets of miracles that have made 32-year-old Dube's church to continue swelling as desperate citizens continue to seek divine intervention for their myriad of predicaments.

We caught up with the humble, youthful prophet who was pleased to share his story with the nation.

Of interest is his history is that he was once a full-time kwaito musician while based in the neighbouring South Africa where he was domiciled for 13 years.

"After leaving school like many of my peers then, I crossed into South Africa in 2000 in search of a job," Dube said.

Just a year in the neighbouring country, Dube was already a prayer warrior and enrolled at a school of prophecy called Well of Life Ministries from 2001 to 2003 in Johannesburg.

Despite being a Christian, his strong penchant for secular music was uncontrollable.

"I used to have a passion for singing and dancing hence I released two albums titled Kwaito compilation, 2005 which was followed by Kwaito for Life in 2008," he said.

After the last album, Dube cut his music career short, a move he said was meant to strengthen his faith.

"Later on, I realised mixing the kind of music and praying was making me a weak worshiper hence I decided to quit totally and concentrate on serving God. I became a regular member at the church until I was nominated to be the youth chairman, a development that I can safely say even brought me closer to God. It was then that my spiritual father, Apostle Innocent Sibanda released me and said God has declared that I start my own church."

Like an obedient worshipper, Dube paid heed to the prophetic Word and started his own church in South Africa in 2012.

"I then received the prophecy that I should come back home where I eventually started my church in 2013 at Northend suburb. When we started, it was only the four of us. We then moved to Nguboyenja suburb where we are currently based," he said.

Asked how he managed to attract followers to his church, Dube said: "You know it was God at work not me, people just came. We also did some evangelism from one house to another and on individual basis and now hundreds now fill the church. It is amazingly growing."

He added that he was seeing his church growing in leaps and bounds in the near future.

Like most of the current mushrooming Pentecostal churches, Dube's church issues anointed handkerchiefs, holy water and anointing oil to its worshippers as part of strengthening them against all forms of earthly evils and misfortunes.

"Those who have used those holy tools have brought big testimonies."

Without going into detail he prophesied that 2015 will be "a year of big surprises, there will be many big changes especially on the political front".

Asked about how he views other popular prophets in the country like PHD Ministries founder Walter Magaya and UFIC leader Emmanuel Makandiwa, Dube simply said: "As long as we preach Christ, we are all brothers in Him, what differs is the level of faith and anointing."

Prophet Dube was born at Mpilo Central Hospital in 1982, and bred in Bulawayo. He did his educated at Inyathi High School.
