The Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (ZUJ) will hold two Safety Training Workshops for its female members based in Bulawayo and Harare.
This was revealed by ZUJ Secretary General, Foster Dongozi who said although the main beneficiaries were the female members, some male members would be invited to ensure that issues of safety benefitted as many members as possible.
Dongozi said in Harare the workshop would take place on the 14th and 15th of September 2015 at a local hotel.
The Bulawayo leg of the Safety Training workshop had been slated for the 17th and 18th of September 2015.
The Secretary General said: "We value the safety and security of all our members, especially female journalists. We have held successful campaigns against sexual harassment in the past and now we are moving towards how female members can be safe while doing their work."
Dongozi said a significant number of photographers and other journalists working on visuals such as videographers had been attacked while doing their work and the safety training would focus on how they could avoid or minimise exposing themselves to danger.
Senior journalists from around the country are expected to participate in the exercise which is expected to lay the foundation for a mentorship and training of trainers on Safety.
