Bulawayo city council has allocated the department of Veterinary Services one vehicle for the dogs vaccination programme as a way of assisting in preventing the spread of rabies in the city

The Director of Health Services Zanele Hwalima reported that a request was received from the Department of Veterinary Services in Bulawayo for assistance with two vehicles to be used in the Rabies campaign and vaccination program to be conducted.

"It was noted that dog vaccination was important for protecting Bulawayo residents from rabies and as such this application was supported. The department will take advantage of this program to educate residents on how to keep and licence dogs in the city as per the Bulawayo (Dog Control and Licensing) by-laws," reads the latest council minutes.

"It was therefore recommended that: one vehicle be provided for use during the exercise. Benches and desks be provided for use by our staff for writing dog notices during the program, no overtime be incurred by our staff involved in the exercise, council be indemnified against any mishap that might befall Department of Veterinary Services staff during the exercise."

The council resolved that One vehicle be provided for use during the exercise, that benches and desks be provided for use by our staff for writing dog notices during the program, that no overtime be incurred by our staff involved in the exercise and that Council be indemnified against any mishap that might befall Department of Veterinary Services staff during the exercise.
