True story about the Mugabe Scholarship Programme
08 Nov 2011 at 13:27hrs | Views
Am a student on the Presidential Scholarship Program me in South Africa. The story is that since the start of the This year, students in almost all Universities have not received not even a single grant which the government is supposed to give students for lively hood.
This has caused a sharp rise in prostitution, abortions, crime especially in Universities such as Kwazulu Natal, Witwatersrand, Monash, Nelson Mandela, Rhodes only to mention but a few, as many do not have any other sources of getting money for basics.
But these cases has been kept quiet by the universities as a way of making the government bring more students to S.A.
From a source within the Presidential Scholarship department @ Compensation House she clearly told me that they are planning to remove at least half the students under the pretense of that those who fail are removed from the scholarship.
At least 1800 students have been brought back to Zimbabwe so far regardless of how students have progressed, even a student who has 1 semester left on his or her programme is being shown the door even after writing a supplementary exam.
We even heard that with the election coming the government is bringing more students as a campaign strategy.
Most universities have not received fees for student and most of them have been encumbered and cannot continue classes. But the most painful part is were students are being removed from the scholarship randomly and at times at will.
Can you please make me anonymous as in every university there are CIO's some of them who publicly threaten students politically.
From the information we have received so far there are currently about 65 CIO's posing as students around South African Universities.
It has also come to a point that when the Minister visits students everyone is forced to participate in singing and partake in ZANU PF slogans Talking to Chris Mushowe is futile after you meet him because every time students who try talking to him say that he just laughs off and chases you out of his office.
