A 26-Year-Old Zimbabwe Republic Police member of the Support Unit Ordinance Harare was robbed of the force's AK riffle loaded with thirty rounds on Monday the 24th of October at Mt Darwin high school.
According to police, Constable George Kamudyariwa was deployed at Mt Darwin High to provide security for the Zimbabwe School Examination papers together with his colleague Rachel Zvinowanda.
Kamudyariwa was guarding the back of the administration block, Zvinowanda at the front while the school guard Shine Kanakembizi of Kanakembizi village under Chief Matope in Mt Darwin was looking after the car park.
It was further alleged that where Kamudyariwa was guarding there was no light and five assailants approached him around 02:00hrs and one man struck him with a sharp object on the fore head before they disarmed him and robbed the AK rifle serial number 32153216.
The other two guards Zvinowanda and Kanembizi were quizzed on the matter and both said there were far about 65 meters apart from Kamudyariwa where they were doing some perimeter checks hence they were not quick to attend to him when he yelled for help.
Meanwhile, a teacher at Mt Darwin heard Kamudyariwa yelling for help and called Mt Darwin police who quickly attended the scene of crime.
Apparently Kamudyariwa suffered a deep cut on the fore head and a lot of blood is said to have gashed out henceforth he is currently admitted at Mt Darwin hospital.
