Cattle rustler Kudakwashe Hwaramba (28) who was arrested on 23 November for stealing a bull in Mvurwi Mashonaland Central is said to have skipped the boarder to South Africa after being granted bail.
It is alleged Hwaramba who was jointly nabbed with Warren Magora the transporter were finally granted bail at High court after Guruve magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka denied them citing the case had overwhelming evidence.
Despite the magistrate denial High court passed the appeal last week and Hwaramba took the opportunity to escape.
A source familiar with the development told Bulawayo24.com that Hwaramba fled soon after his release from remand which he served for three weeks.
"Hwaramba fled to Cape town South Africa two days after receiving bail since he knew stock theft would grant him nine years behind bars.
"Having served three weeks on remand he learnt the hard way and ran away," said the source.
According to police cases of stock theft are on the increase.
