Another Zanu-PF party tomorrow!
21 Dec 2011 at 14:50hrs | Views
ZIMBABWE's former ruling party will tomorrow have another of its annual rituals where the President Robert Mugabe will be granted another podium opportunity to insult and ridicule his opponents and grandstand about his fading prowess.
The event which is dubbed - Unity Day, has become so synonymous with the naughty Zanu-PF campaign rallies and is celebrated, purportedly to celebrate the Unity Accord Peace Treaty that was signed by the late Vice President Joshua Nkomo and his long time political rival, President Robert Mugabe.
As per the boring tradition, President Mugabe will read his George Charamba authored speech littered with all sorts of jargon - the same rubbish will be read on the Octogenarian leader's behalf by his unelected provincial governors - pewee.
Then the state journos will scribe their boring "President this President that headlines" and sing along the already known verses of the 87-year-old president.
"The event will be a non-event," said a Zapu youth member who argued that there was no unity between his party and Zanu-PF. He added: "What happened was that Umdala (referring to Joshua Nkomo) agreed to sign that treaty because abantu babesifa ngeGukurahundi," he said.
Our Bulawayo correspondent will keep you updated on what Cain Mathema will say tomorrow on behalf of his old boss.
