Tsholotsho North villagers in Wards 4 and 5 face are in deep trouble amid reports that close to 200 herd of elephants have reportedly escaped from Hwange National Parks.
The elephants said to be terrorizing villagers, reports show.
According to a report by Radio Dialogue citing a citizen journalist, Norman Ncube, elephants destroyed crops from several villages in ward 4 under Headman Mfunda and ward 5 under headman Mcetshwa.
"The elephants have invaded several fields in Mabhandeni, Mfunda, Matshake and Sikali villages.
"They destroyed crops at Gcekeni and Nkwalini villages where a herd of elephants from Forestry area descended to the community fields" Ncube is quoted saying.
According to Ncube, villagers are helpless as they watch elephants feast on their crops as there is nothing they can do to chase them away.
Tsholotsho North villagers are still to recover from devastating floods that pounded the area in February.
Tsholotsho is one of the hard hit areas by the recent cyclone floods and international community has intervened lately to help the affected with foodstuffs and clothing.
