14 schools will battle it out in this year's Orap-Zenzele Chevrolet soccer tourney

Fourteen schools will battle it out in this year's Orap-Zenzele, Chevrolet champions soccer cup at Gifford High School in Bulawayo with hopes the event will unearth talent from remote areas.

Schools from 4 provinces Bulawayo Metropolitan, Matabeleland North, South and Midlands provinces will take part in the tournament organised by Orap, Gifford High School and Autoworld.

The tournament will be played on a round robin basis with the 8 boys teams pooled in 2 groups of 4 while the girls' sides are in two groups of 3 teams each.

The top two finishers from each group will then clash in the semi finals leading to the finals.

Hosts, Gifford High School's teacher in charge of soccer Nathan Tshuma, said the event presents a perfect platform for disadvantaged children to showcase their talents.

The event sponsors expressed their excitement at being part of the event that seeks to develop sport.

The tournament which enters its fourth year this weekend has acted as a feeder to the junior national teams producing players like current top marksman from Bantu Rovers, Bukhosi Sibanda and Denzel Khumalo from Highlanders.

Apart from winning prizes, all participating teams will walk away with playing kits and foot balls.

The official launch event was graced by members of Highlanders Football Club that included the Chief Executive Officer Nhlanhla Dube, coaches Erol Akbay and Cosmas Zulu as well as current players that included Denzel Khumalo and Adrian Silla.
