Former National People's Party Chairman for Matabeleland North, who quit the party recently, Max Mkandla has said he and his group had been misled to rally behind the presidential aspirant Nkosana Moyo thinking that he was a genuine person but they have realized he is suspicious and might be working in favour of Zanu PF so they are withdrawing their support for him.
He said Nkosana is a man of integrity and he always valued him as such.
"Surprisingly in this context where he is sugarcoating Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa forces me to raise my eyebrows. Mnangagwa orchestrated Gugurahundi but today Nkonsana has the audacity to marvel his leadership, there are more questions than answers to this," he said.
"That is what people are saying."
Mkandla said it was worrying to hear Moyo saying that Mnangagwa can rule better than Mugabe when he (Moyo) is aspiring to be president. He questioned why he did not say he (Moyo) can rule better than Mugabe.
"We are actually apologising to the nation that we were caught unaware because of leadership crisis in the country and we had to back Moyo who entered the race to challenge his former boss Mugabe only to discover that he emerged in a jacket of a political movement and is not clear and seems to be undecided. His careless remarks supporting Mnangagwa saying he can rule better than Mugabe leaves us with questions as to what he is up to. It is clear that he is campaigning for Mnangagwa," he said.
"So we are saying we no longer support him. Even his political adviser Tich Chinyoka who is linked to Zanu PF makes it more suspicious of his (Moyo) motive. We also suspect that he is a Zanu PF because he is not even disturbed by the police in conducting his meetings and meets vendors without any hustles unlike how other parties are treated."
