The ZANU-PF Youth League here has expanded the #EDhasMyVote campaign to all the four corners of the province, targeting youths' votes, as the ruling party intensifies efforts to record an emphatic victory in the forthcoming harmonised elections.
#EDhasMyVote campaign was launched in Masvingo a few weeks ago with a call for ruling party youth league members in the province to campaign vigorously for party, First Secretary and presidential candidate President Mnangagwa.
The party's provincial youth chairman Brian Munyoro yesterday said spreading of the #EDhasMyVote campaign across the province was in full swing as the ruling party bids to maintain its stranglehold on Masvingo. Munyoro said the Youth League wanted the ruling party to retain all the 26 House of Assembly seats in Masvingo in the coming election.
"We are intensifying our #EDhasMyVote campaign throughout the province and I am happy that we have covered most of the districts and the response from youths has been overwhelming," said Munyoro.
He paid tribute to other ruling party wings for helping in the mobilisation of the youth vote to make sure the revolutionary party and President Mnangagwa romps to a landslide victory.
"President Mnangagwa is obviously going to win resoundingly in the forthcoming elections, especially here in Masvingo. We are moving around the province, taking our campaign message to the people and the response is good and we can safely say victory is certain," he said.
Zanu-PF Masvingo Provincial chair Ezra Chadzamira concurred with Munyoro. He said the ruling party's leadership was satisfied with the ground covered under the #EDhasMyVote campaign in the province.
"We are ready for the harmonised elections and aspiring candidates are anxiously waiting for primary elections, whose dates will be announced soon. We are moving around with members of our Youth League explaining what our President and the nation have achieved in the first 100 days under the new administration.
"#EDhasMyVote campaign has given us mileage as a province and there is no doubt that we will have a clean sweep in the coming elections again," said Chadzamira.
The campaign, which mainly focuses on mobilising youth voters ahead of the forthcoming elections, has already been launched in Harare, Masvingo, Mashonaland West and Matebeleland North provinces, among other areas.
The ruling party here has set a target to mobilise close to 700 000 voters under the Biometric Voter Registration exercise and has been assisting prospective voters with transport to register at Zimbabwe Electoral Commission district and provincial centres in the province.
