ED crocodile smile always dangerous
11 Apr 2018 at 11:07hrs | Views
I watched in dismay when ED Mnangagwa appealed to Zimbabwean expatriates especially in South Africa to return home and help to rebuild the economy. The most important question to ED is, who brought this problem of high unemployment rates, dilapidated health system, crumbling infrastructure, unproductive farming, externalisation of foreign currency and a questionable education system that has exam leaks plus giving undeserving graduates qualifications? Is it not your Zanu pf in which you were the deputy president for ten years? Why should millions of expatriates trust your call and fake smile to come back home and clean your trail of destruction?
To say the least, ED with his crocodile smile has presided over different ministerial positions without success. The worry of many Zimbabweans across the globe is that Mnangagwa is smiling to the outside world calling all expatriates to help him repair what he damaged in collaboration with Zanu pf. Where can he get a winning formula today which will be different from one used in the past 37 years without success? Was it Mugabe alone who destroyed the economy? or is it a nonsensical propaganda by Zanu pf that Zimbabwe's crisis is a result of Western sanctions? One missing link is that a good and responsible government even under sanctions will at least manage to avail basic needs to its citizenry.
Zimbabweans abroad be careful. In as much as we have a role to play in the rebuilding of the economy, Mnangagwa and Zanu pf will never be winning captains for a visionary nation like Zimbabwe. Their track record speaks volume. Removing Mugabe and giving the relay stick to Mnangangwa is just like removing a shark in a pool and replacing it with a hungry crocodile and tell kids that it is safe to swim. A normal thinking citizen must be cautious before jumping into EDs smile because he is part of the government that failed masses from Gukurahundi, Murambatsvina, haphazard land reform and failure to provide a recognised currency.
Zimbabweans are educated and they should not be taken for a ride by an illegitimate government since 2008 to believe that Zanu pf has answers to the current crisis whilst they are the architectures of prolonging problems.
Ask yourself a question if Zanu pf has ever won an election since the formation of MDC? the answer is a huge NO. Even SADC under the Chairmanship of former South African President Thabo Mbeki can testify that Zanu pf lost elections by more than fifty percent and forced a re-run. Thousands of innocent civilians were butchered. This Zanu pf bible of barbaric grab of power has chapters and verses which are still to be read .Reports of chiefs in rural areas are surfacing that already they are forcing their communities to pay their allegiance to ED and Zanu pf or else face persecution.
What makes the millions of Zimbabweans abroad believe and trust that these coming elections will be free and fair. Mnangagwa is just trying to constitutionalise his coup by calling an election which has been rigged already. Electoral reforms are a mare talk. Zimbabweans must watch and see.
Zanu pf managed to chew what they cannot swallow, rebuilding really needs a real new political dispensation free from Zanu pf blood. ED is smiling to investors that Zimbabwe is open for business but the truth will be seen during elections when their culture of rigging will be unleashed led by the state security agents as usual. Is it safe to invest under Mnangagwa? A big NO is the answer because he is as bad as his predecessor.
A crocodile smile has never been welcoming but it is viewed an attempt to prepare for a lethal attack. Watch the space.
