Mujuru's NPP loses its leader

Joice Mujuru led National People's Party (NPP) has lost one of its founding members, Mthulisi Clifford Lute Moyo.

Moyo passed on at Edenville Hospital, Johannesburg in South Africa after a short illness. He will be buried tomorrow in his home area, Gwambe village in Plumtree as his body is being repatriated today from Kings and Queens in Johannesburg at 17.00 hours.

Moyo is a former NPP provincial Commissar and Johannesburg party Chairperson. Moyo is credited with helping establishing and shaping NPP in South Africa when it was still going by the name Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF).

Moyo did not assist in shaping the party only but also channelled his resources in growing and moulding the popular opposition party.

From the time the party was founded, Moyo has been a dedicated, hardworking and loyal party cadre.

Members of NPP expressed shock and disappointment at the sudden death of Moyo.

"We never thought that Moyo will leave after we managed helping in the removal of the dictator Mugabe. We wanted him to be part of the new Zimbabwe that we are still fighting for. He was a visionary leader whom any sane person or any party will want in their ranks," said Gibson Zvenhamo an official of NPP in Johannesburg.

"We have lost a leader whose gap will never be replaced by anyone," added Zvenhamo.

Colleague and close confident Mkhululi Chimoio expressed shock, sadness and pain at the untimely death of Moyo.

"It is depressing that good people exit this earth while the evil remain behind. Mthulisi is one person who was committed to the struggle of a better Zimbabwe. He is one person who always pioneered and preached peace. He envisaged a Zimbabwe that knows no tribe, race or boundaries. It is sad that he left us while we still trying push and force the government to work collectively with all progressive forces in the country, be it be in the opposition or ruling forces. We owe it to Mthulisi to see a better Zimbabwe where our children and generations do not experience sad lives we went through under Mugabe. Mthulisi always asked me on what we will tell our children in future if we are to let political leaders destroy our country further and as such his legacy will live on through the ideas and values he stood for as we will impact them on the younger generation. We lost a brother, colleague, community builder, a leader and a national assert that the country never utilised," said Chimoio.

According to the family spokesperson and brother Zakhele Moyo the family is saddened at losing a son, brother and father.

"We lost one of ours. He experienced challenges with ulcers and unfortunately when he was admitted at the hospital he did not make it out. We are still shocked to learn that he succumbed to Meningitis linked disease) Brain TB). We are still not getting how it came out to be another illness that took away his life. It is unfortunate for us and as the family and my young brother he left us in shock," he said.

Moyo is also survived by his wife and children.
