Bridget Makaza, who is accused of fatally shooting her bus operator husband has been granted bail by the High Court.

Makaza, is said to have shot her husband MacCloud Mapanga to death following a marital dispute.

She was initially denied bail by a Harare magistrate.

However, her bid to get freedom was successful when High Court Judge Justice Foroma granted her bail pending trial.

She was ordered to pay $100 bail through the Harare Magistrates' Clerk of Court and to report thrice a week at Warren Park Police Station.

Makaza was further advised not to interfere with witnesses, continue residing in Warren Park, her given address and to surrender her passport to the Clerk of Court until the matter is finalised.

The matter will be back in court today at Harare magistrates' court for routine remand.

Makaza is being represented by Tungamirai Muganhiri of Machaya and Associates.

Circumstances are that the late Mapanga and his wife Bridget had a long standing argument in their marriage, as the businessman had married another wife.

The State, alleges that on May 14, Bridget allegedly got up when Mapanga was asleep, took a gun before shooting him thrice on the neck as well as the shoulder.

In an attempt to cover up her offence, Bridget allegedly screamed, raising alarm and feigning an armed robbery.
