Prominent Masvingo lawyer, Collen Maboke has officially started duties as the mayor of Masvingo following his temporary fall-out with MDC leader Nelson Chamisa.

The Mirror has it on good authority that the two lawyers have buried the hatchet and Chamisa has since given Maboke the green light to take up his office at the Civic Centre.

Maboke started one of his major duties on Tuesday when he attended the official opening of the 9th Parliament in Harare as the Mayor of Masvingo.

Maboke could not be reached for a comment as his phone was off.

Chamisa's spokesperson Dr Nkululeko Sibanda said his boss was attending a standing committee meeting, therefore , could not comment.

Chamisa last week ordered Maboke to step down as the mayor of Masvingo on allegations that he had defied party position in which he stood against MDC Alliance preferred candidate Godfrey Kurauone during the mayoral elections. Maboke was also accused of making a pact with Zanu PF councillors in the elections that saw the ruling party's Wellington Mahwende coming in as a deputy mayor.
The Mirror is also told that Chamisa's order to fire Peter Chigaba, the MDC Alliance administrator for Masvingo has been withdrawn.

Prominent Masvingo lawyer Rodney Makausi said it is good that the parties have found each other as that would be good for the residence who desperately want good service delivery from the Council despite political affiliation.
