ZOU Vice Chancellor in court over $180k goat scandal

The Zimbabwe Open University Vice Chancellor Professor Alfred Champion Ncube and Finance Director Mr Garainesu Shoko appeared at the Harare Magistrates court on 15 November 2018 over a charge involving the unprocedural purchase of goats for the university.

They were arrested and charged for criminal abuse of office.

It is alleged that the accused persons went Lupane in search of goat breeders and found them being sold at US$180 per head. The two bought goats worth $180 000.00 for the ZOU Gweru farm without going to tender.

The goats were bought at the farm owned by Dr Ray Ndlukula a long-time friend of the ZOU Vice Chancellor Professor Alfred Ncube.

The matter was adjourned to 30 November 2018. Case reference is HC.CR 123/11/18 DR 6 of 11/18.
