A MARANGE Resources employee who alleged that he had been kidnapped and sexually abused by three women who had offered him a lift was yesterday moved from Mutare Provincial Hospital's intensive care unit to police cells on charges of making a false report.
Ngoni Muhambira (25) is alleged to have made a false report to the police after blowing all his money with a girlfriend identified as Angela Manzungu.
He is reported to have been afraid to go home and tell his mother that he had no money, resulting in him fabricating the "sexual abuse" story. When he arrived home in Odzi, it is alleged that he fell unconscious and was taken to Mutare Provincial Hospital where he was admitted in the intensive care unit.
The man had taken an overdose of a concoction to enhance sexual desire.
Muhambira was questioned by the police after Manzungu revealed the truth, leading to his arrest. Acting Mutare provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Chishiri, yesterday confirmed the new development.
He said Muhambira was still detained at Mutare Police Station as investigations continue and is expected to appear in court today.
"Information that we now have is that he obtained his $200 salary before he spent it with his girlfriend from last Wednesday up to Saturday.
"In the process he also took some unknown medicine to enhance his sexual desire and spent the weekend with his girlfriend," Asst Insp Chishiri said.
When his money was finished, he went home but was afraid to tell his mother about his recklessness since she suffers from high blood pressure.
Muhambira collapsed on arrival at home and his mother took him to hospital. Manzungu was later told that her boyfriend had been admitted and she visited the hospital where she spilled the beans. Police on Monday afternoon arrested and detained Muhambira for making a false report. Muhambira had been reported to be in the intensive care unit at Mutare Provincial Hospital after reportedly being kidnapped and sexually abused by three women.
He had alleged that he was drugged before being kidnapped for two days.
Muhambira claimed the women were in the company of a male suspect and reportedly ordered him to be intimate with one of the three women and he refused. A pistol was produced, according to Muhambira, and he complied after being given condoms.
He further alleged that he had sex five times with the women and all the condoms used were properly secured.
