The business sector has received a thumbs up from the First Lady, Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa for complementing government efforts in stabilising prices of basic goods and the economy.
With government interventions having yielded economic stability in the country, the Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers (CZR), has moved in to launch its inaugural top manager's awards as part of efforts to reward business managers for their role towards economic stabilisation.
The glamorous awards ceremony held in Harare last night was graced by the First Lady, Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa who handed over certificates to the top 200 managers drawn from various retail and wholesale shops across the country.
"I feel humbled to be part of these inaugural managers' awards, this I am informed is a culmination of various business assessments, I remember last time when you invited me to another occasion like this, but I understand this one is big.
"May I take this opportunity to pay tribute to you the business managers for demonstrating loyalty to the government which have seen price stabilisation, this is commendable.
"May I also take this opportunity to urge you to shun corruption as you are aware our president is on record denouncing corruption. The moment you start corruption as managers the whole business sector will rot, so please let us adopt a zero-tolerance culture, and our economy will prosper and achieve Vision2030."
CZR president, Denford Mutashu commended the First Lady for standing by retailers and appealed to the whole business sector to stick to proper business ethics in the fight against inflation and corruption.
"I urge you to maintain good, credible and perfect business ethics. Our economy is on a recovery path, and credit will always go to you for the good job in responding to government macro-economic policies. I say congratulations to all the winners and keep it up."
In appreciation of Amai Mnangagwa's philanthropic works, individual retailers and wholesalers donated an assortment of basic commodities and funds to assist the Angel of Hope Foundation towards its mission to uplift the livelihoods of the vulnerable.
