Zupco employee arrested for theft

A Bulawayo based Zupco company employee has been arrested for stealing $3 240 from his employer while two men lost over US$20 000 cash and R181 500 to criminals in separate incidents in Bulawayo and Masvingo.
In a statement, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said they were still investigating the case.
"Police in Bulawayo arrested Benson Nyandoro aged 27 for a case of theft which occurred at Zupco Khami Rd on September 14, 2021. The suspect was captured on a CCTV while stealing cash $3 240, R70 and US$3 from a workmate's bag which was left on top of the counter," he said.
Meanwhile, police in Bulawayo are also investigating a case of theft from a motor vehicle in which a 38-year-old man lost US$5 000, R181 500 and $4 700, cash after he left the money in a parked Nissan UD truck at the intersection of Jason Moyo Street and 11th Ave on September 15.
On Saturday, a Masvingo businessman lost US$15 000 cash and other valuables valued US$ 2 000 after seven unknown suspects armed with an identified pistol, machetes and axes, stormed his home at about 0300 hours.
The robbers attacked the occupants before disappearing with the cash. Police have confirmed the arrest of Blessing Mutera (26) and Gift Munduzera (32) for stock theft which occurred on September 14. The suspects stole two oxen at a grazing land in Kaseke Village, Muzarabani.
The cattle were later recovered at a certain abattoir in Chiweshe before being slaughtered. In a related case, police in Chiredzi arrested six suspects for stock theft cases which occurred in Chilonga area, Chikombedzi. Detectives received information to the effect that three suspects were driving a head of 16 stolen cattle towards Triangle from Chilonga area.
They acted on the information and set an ambush at Buffalo Range, leading to the arrest of the three suspects, who upon being interviewed implicated three other suspects. So far 27 cattle, valued at US$8 100 have been recovered. Investigations are underway.
Asst Comm Nyathi said, "The ZRP also confirms the arrest of Sunboy Sibanda aged 37 in connection with a case of theft."
