THE Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) has introduced a self-service vehicle licensing and insurance machine expected to bring convenience to the motoring public.
The 24-hour machine which would be deployed at various supermarkets, service stations and selected tollgates is one of the main attractions at the ongoing 61st edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF).
In an interview at their stand, Zinara public relations manager Tendai Mugabe urged the motoring public to make use of the self-service machine to license and insure their vehicles.
"The automated insurance and licensing machine are one of products and services we are exhibiting here at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF). It's a self-service machine which people can use even after hours. So far, we have four of them and these machines will be deployed at various supermarkets, service stations and at selected tollgates," said Mugabe.
He said the reason they introduced the self-service vehicle licensing and insurance machine was to ensure that they bring more convenience to the motoring public.
"For instance, assuming that you have embarked on a journey with an unlicensed vehicle you can now do that at the tollgate before you proceed with your journey. So, far there is no longer need for people to visit Zinara offices all the time as they can now even insure and license their vehicles from the comfort of their homes.
"Apart from introducing the self-service machine when it comes to vehicle licensing, we have also partnered with a number insurance companies and banks to do online vehicle licensing. So far, some of the companies that we have partnered with are actually delivering the vehicle licensing discs to their customers on time," said Mugabe.
